A Message from Chairman, President and CEO Seifi Ghasemi
October 2019
On November 4, 2019, the U.S. is eligible to begin withdrawal from the Paris Agreement, beginning a one-year process to officially break with the global accord signed by 195 countries aimed at addressing climate change.
I want to reiterate what I said when this decision was first reported in the media in June 2017.
At Air Products, we share society's concerns about the impacts of climate change on our environment. Any decision for the U.S. to break with the Accord does not impact our choices as Air Products and our continuing focus on and commitment to sustainability.
Sustainability is one of our core values and is at the heart of what we do as an industrial gas company. We produce products that improve the environment and make our customers' processes better, making them more efficient, reducing emissions, and increasing productivity.
We also strive to continually improve our own operations, and we measure and report our progress. We are working toward the 2020 sustainability goals we previously set, including environmental performance goals for greenhouse gases, energy, water, and emissions. We are also moving forward to establish and communicate new sustainability goals next year.
