Air Products’ Halia® aeration systems can be utilized for oxygen aeration in Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) processes. SBRs require high oxygen transfer rates at the beginning of the “fill” and “aeration” cycles. With traditional air-based aeration systems, sizing the aeration equipment to satisfy the oxygen requirement at the start of these cycle steps results in excess aeration and power usage at the end of these treatment stages. With the Halia systems, the oxygen transfer can be cycled intermittently as required thereby minimizing the oxygen demand and power requirement.
